Volunteering and work experience at Linden
Volunteering in school: if you would like to develop your skills for a future job, or just want to help in school, you can apply to be a volunteer in school. Volunteers do a range of tasks from supporting learners in class to hearing them read in ones and small groups. You may also be involved in trips outside school.
We are very happy to support family members of Linden children to gain further qualifications by giving them opportunities to gain work experience and we have many under-18s who also do work experience with us as part of their studies. As we are lucky enough to have a lot of people who want to volunteer to do work experience with us, we cannot always take new volunteers immediately but can usually accept people at the start of each new term. If you would like to volunteer, ask in the office for an application form, speak to Mr Mohamed or Mrs Lall, or send an email to email@example.com.
To volunteer in school regularly, you will need to gain a Disclosure & Barring Service declaration (DBS) https://www.gov.uk/disclosure-barring-service-check/overview). If you are not enrolled on a course, Linden will be your DBS sponsor and Mrs Mulla will help you with this process. If however, you want to volunteer as part of a college course, your college should organise the DBS with you before your Linden placemnt can start. As safeguarding children is our most important role, we ask that all volunteers meet with Ms Spencer for a full induction discussion before they begin any volunteering. The induction goes over safeguarding and health & safety procedures, as well as an introduction to the school ethos in action and positive behaviour strategies. We ask that all volunteers read our Safeguarding and Equality Policies before their induction. You will find these on our school website here
