Admissions

Nursery:

Nursery admissions are the responsibility of the Governing Body.

Children are admitted to our Nursery class at the beginning of the autumn and spring term. Children admitted to the Nursery class will have their fourth birthday during the year. This does of course depend on availability of places. We also admit children at other times if a place becomes available. The majority of places are part-time, for three-hour long sessions either morning or afternoon, five days a week, however we also offer full time places.

Criteria for admission to the Nursery Class:

  • Nursery Class places are provided for children who live within the school’s priority area.
  • Nursery Class places are provided for children who have brothers or sisters already attending the school.
  • Requests for places for children with particular needs (usually made through the Social Services Department or other similar agencies) will be considered.

Entry to Mainstream School- Reception – Year 6:

Leicester City Council is responsible for the admissions policy for Mainstream School

Criteria for admission to mainstream school:

Published admission number: 60

Places are allocated to pupils who have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) which names the school before any other allocations are made. These allocations will reduce the number of places available.

Criterion

Criterion 1: Children in the care of a local authority within England or who were previously in the care of a local authority within and outside of England.

Criterion 2: Children who have a serious medical condition or exceptional social or domestic needs that make it essential they attend the school requested.

Criterion 3: Children whose home address is in the catchment area of the infant or primary school with a sibling at the school who will still be on roll when the applicant starts school.

Criterion 4: Children whose home address is outside the catchment area of the infant or primary school with a sibling at the school, who will still be on roll when the applicant starts school.

Criterion 5: Children whose home address is in the catchment area of the infant or primary school.

Criterion 6: Children who are sons / daughters of staff working at the school for at least 2 years at the time of application.

Criterion 7: Children whose home address is outside the catchment area of the school and who have requested a place.

Admission to Reception: Children whose fifth birthday falls between 1st September and 31st August are admitted to school at the beginning of the Autumn Term.

Year 1: Children whose sixth birthday falls between 1st September and 31st August are admitted to school at the beginning of the Autumn Term.

Class Organisation:

The school has one Nursery class – offering both full time and part time places and two classes in each of the other Year Groups. All our year group classes are mixed ability.

Transfer to Secondary School:

In the Evington area there are three Secondary Schools that the majority of our pupils go on to in the Autumn Term following their eleventh birthday. These schools are Judgemeadow Community College, Crown Hills Community College and City of Leicester College, Mandani boys & girls, Sir Johnathan North & St., Pauls Catholic Secondary. Pupils need to apply for a place in one of these schools during the Autumn Term of Year 6.
