Welcome to our Linden Geography page! On this page you will find information about what your child will be learning in this area, photographs of work that has taken place as well as relevant links to sites. We hope that you find this page useful.
Through geography we enquire and investigate the links between people and their local environment as well as internationally. Geography looks at the nature of the planet, the diversity of the people who live there and the varying issues that different environments face. Geography also helps us to understand how and why places are changing. A geographer will not only answer questions but they will also ask and debate them. Through our curriculum we want to foster the engagement in the subject so that children begin to see the part they play.
‘The study of geography is about more than just memorising places on a map. It’s about understanding the complexity of our world, appreciating the diversity of cultures that exists across continents. And in the end, it’s about using all that knowledge to help bridge divides and bring people together’
Barack Obama‘A high-quality geography education should inspire in pupils a curiosity and fascination about the world that will remain with them for the rest of their lives’

We cover the full national curriculum for Geography and use national curriculum statements to ensure we cover a broad and balanced
curriculum, but essentially, the programme of study for both KS1 and 2 are constructed as follows:
In Geography cultural capital is interwoven through the subject. We want to give children those opportunities that may be beyond their everyday experiences. We want to provide them with all the necessary tools that will enable them to fully contribute and access the learning. In doing this we can put the learning into context.
